I came in for my first time to grab a coffee and pastries. I grabbed a whole box of pastries for a gathering with our church and everyone really enjoyed them. I ordered a cortado and it was also good. I will definitely come back soon for coffee, espresso and pastries.

What a lovely welcoming place to work peacefully — and with a delicious variety of lunch options, hot or cold, coffee and iced tea to pair. They also participate in TooGoodToGo so I was able to grab pastries that would've been wasted at the end of the day. A neighborhood gem!

If Crown Heights ever needed proof that miracles come in flaky layers, Almah Café has delivered. I wandered in expecting the usual café fare and instead found myself face‑to‑face with a Sabich that had clearly gone to finishing school, served not in pita, but on a pastry so buttery and crisp it could moonlight as a Viennese strudel. Eggplant, egg, tahini, all the usual suspects, but dressed up in couture carbs. Even the pickle was good, and I’m very particular about my pickles. Consider me converted. The sweet side didn’t disappoint either: their rugelach is the kind of pastry that makes you wonder why anyone bothers with store‑bought cookies. Perfectly rolled, not too sweet, and just enough chew to remind you that Jewish grandmothers everywhere are nodding in approval. And because irony is best served hot, I paired it all with a mocha that was both strong and smooth, like the café itself, which somehow manages to be cozy, kosher, and chic without trying too hard. Between the Jerusalem breakfasts, khachapuri, and pavlovas on the menu, Kosher Almah is basically a United Nations of baked goods, but my vote goes to the flaky Sabich party. If you’re in Crown Heights and think you’ve seen it all, prepare to be pleasantly ambushed.
